In celebration of avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs’ upcoming 92nd birthday, his artwork is now available for purchase in a groundbreaking way: for the first time ever, individually signed electronic frames featuring his works are being offered.
Since transitioning to video, Jacobs has continuously pushed the boundaries of space, time, and perception with his mesmerizing digital creations, the “ETERNALISM.”
Each purchased frame comes with three custom-made USB drives, containing a hundred Eternalisms curated around three themes: New York City, Drawings, and Nature. The Eternalism (his patented invention) allows 3D seeing without special glasses, even for a single eye. We see NYC in 3D. His drawings go on their own (impossible) 3D adventures. Unlike other 3D photos, Eternalisms capture unceasing movement, a foot steps forward…. forever.
Limited to 100, each frame signed on the front and numbered on the back.
About the Artist
Ken Jacobs (b. 1933) is a pioneering figure in experimental cinema. A native New Yorker, he studied painting under Hans Hofmann in the early 1950s before embracing filmmaking and performance as his primary mediums. A key artist in the 1960s underground film movement, his film Tom, Tom, The Piper’s Son is widely regarded as a cornerstone of experimental and structuralist film theory.
Working closely with his wife, artist Florence Jacobs, he has explored nearly every moving-image format—from 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm film projections to cutting-edge digital technologies of his own creation.
In 2023, The Museum of Modern Art acquired over 200 of his films and videos for its permanent collection, cementing his legacy as a trailblazer in the art of cinema.
